The Indo/Pakistani war and the 1947 partition of India involved the largest ever mass Immigration. The division is expressed by a diagonal dividing dark area expressing the suffering involved in the displacement separating the nation. 

Inspired by the Indian textiles and beaded embroidery, circles of mixed fabrics and threads have been embroidered onto a large circle containing lots of smaller circles representing one race. It had been hoped and felt that religion and unity should be possible without involving violence and destruction but unfortunately this was not the case.
